The Royal Highland Centre hosted its largest ever sit-down dinner in September 2008when it welcomed 2300 guests from 18 countries from the Golden Oldies World Rubgy Fesitval.

RHC staff and the Centre's official caterers, Saltire Hospitality and Saltire Patisserie worked flat out for a week to ensure that the massive function - one of the largest of its kind ever staged in Scotland - left a lasting impression of Scottish Hospitality and food.

Over 250 gallons of wine and beer were consumed at the dinner with Saltire Hospitality's chefs preparing over 500 kilos of chicken, 185 kilos of haggis, over 600 kilos of potatoes, 3000 bread rolls and 2300 freshly made desserts.   More than 300 front and back of house staff were involved setting up 2300 chairs at 240 individually clothed tables and handling 11,500 pieces of crockery and 16,100 pieces of cutlery.

It certainly demonstrated that the Centre can stage functions of this scale smoothly and efficiently.   The main driver was that the guests had a great evening as it was the culmination of a week long programmeof events.  Being Rugby players, they really knew how to enjoy themselves!
