Scottish Athletics Young Athletes Road Races

The scottishathletics Young Athletes Road Races cover three age categories and is the premier national road event for these athletes. Races are held for boys and girls for U17, U15 and U13 with male and female athletes racing the same distance in each age category.

The 2019 races at Ingliston will serve as a significant event in the selection for the London Mini Marathon in late April. Scotland sends teams of four boys and four girls at both U17 and U15 for this event, and performances at the Young Athletes Road Races will be viewed as key in terms of picking those teams (effectively ‘trial races’).

Aside from the Mini Marathon element, in all three age groups there are individual and team medals which are always keenly contested by clubs the length and breadth of Scotland.

The move from a recent venue in Greenock reflects a policy within scottishathletics to rotate certain events where suitable and feasible.
