The Edinburgh Pipe Band Championship is returning to the Royal Highland Centre.
Set for Sunday 19th August 2012, organisers are building on last year's phenomenal success, where just under 40 band performers and more than 3,000 visitors were welcomed to the first major piping contest held in Edinburgh for 15 years.
The event culminated in a grand finale with competing pipers and drummers taking part in the march past, saluting Chieftain, Ian Embelton, Chief Executive of the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association.
More Highland dancers are expected to attend this year, as the organisers build on last year's numbers, which saw 120 dancers compete.
Last year's favourite, the heavies will once again be participating in a mini Highland Games event as they toss the caber, shot put and hammer throw - all to the delight of the audience.
